Burning Bacon, Jim Gaffigan on Bacon

Monday October 8th 2007 a Bacon Factory in Sydney is consumed in flames. Proving that fire also has an intense love for bacon.

In other news, Bacon Unwrapped, the second best bacon blog after mine, has changed its graphic header. I really like the look of this one. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Also, while I was marveling at the new header I noticed that Heather posted about Jim Gaffigan, who just so happens to be one of my favorite comedians. I guess Jim is a big fan of bacon and he had a whole routine about it on Conan O’Brien. She has the Transcript on her site.

If you ever find any bacon news I should know about, let me know ASAP!

Street View, Beer, and a Treehouse

Here is a recap of some posts I wrote on the Pittsburgh City Blog at 451 Press. You can look at this as some behind the scenes commentary of the post.

Pittsburgh is added to Google Street View

In this post I talked about how Pittsburgh is now one of the many cities part of the Google Street View. I think it’s kind of neat and scary at the same time. Neat, because you can see areas of the city you’ve never been to before. Scary, because what if you are in one of the pictures doing something you weren’t supposed to be doing? Overall, I think this really shows how Google is slowly taking over the world, one city at a time.

Stop the Drink Tax
If any of you listen to my podcast, talkObjectivism, you would know that I think that all taxes are immoral. This one is no exception.

The Haunted TreeHouse

If you are a local artist who thinks they have spooky, scary artwork, read this post and email me if you’re interested in being in the event. If you’re someone who loves art and carving pumpkins, read this post. Basically, what I’m saying is, if you have a pulse and a love for all things spooky, come to this event. (Pulse optional)

The Music Revolution is in Full Swing

Indie ROckFirst it was Radiohead, then NIN, and now Oasis and Jamiroquai. In an article on the British news site Telegraph it was announced Oasis and Jamiroquai will be selling their next CDs directly to fans. They will be using the same “Pay what you wish” method that Radiohead used.

They also said that Radiohead’s new album is already working its way up the Top Download charts. I tried going to their site to get a copy of it but the site was down. I am going to wait for tomorrow once everything has calmed down.

Nine Inch Nails is Now Indie

nin.jpgWell, it looks like Nine Inch Nails is joining the ranks of Radiohead. It was announced on their website that they are no longer affiliated with any record label. I have seen this coming for a while. Just recently there was video on YouTube were Trent Reznor was telling the crowd to steal his music. He was also preaching about how the labels were ripping them (the fans) off.

This is the beginning of a new era for the music industry and bands are starting to realize the power for their brand. That’s right, it’s the brand or image of a band that will make them money, not CD sales. Music will be given away for free or at low cost to gain fans that will attend shows and buy merchandise.

This is the beginning of a lot of change in an industry that is known for resisting it. I think you’re going to see bands getting sued by record labels when they try to jump ship early. Before they were worried about fans stealing music, now they have to worry about bands leaving them behind.

Bacon Chicken Cheese Wrap

Every once in a while I get creative in the kitchen, and the last time I did I created a masterpiece. I call it the Bacon Chicken Cheese Wrap. It’s probably just about the easiest thing to make and I am sure its already been done, but I added my own bacon touch to it. In each wrap there are five pieces of crunchy bacon. If you look at the picture you will be able to see that there is more bacon then chicken in the wrap so bacon is the key flavor player in the recipe.

Bacon Wrap

Serves one Hungry person or two peckish people.

10 Slices of your favorite bacon cooked to your liking
1 Cooked Boneless Chicken Breast
2 Slices of Provolone Cheese (you can substitute any cheese you want)
Small Handful of Green Leafy Stuff (to make it look healthy)
2 Wraps
Topping (Ranch or some other kind of dressing)

Place cheese on wrap followed by chicken, five slices of bacon, and Leafy Stuff. Then top it with a dressing of your choice. Then Wrap it up and consume.

Websites I Can Not Live Without

PandoraHere is a list of the websites I use on a daily basis other than my own blogs. I love doing lists like this because I never realize how often I visit a website until I stop and think about it. If you have any website you use everyday please share them in a comment.

Pandora (Internet Radio) – When you are at work this is a life saver. Listening to and finding new music really makes the day go by a little faster.

MeeBo (Instant Messaging) – This site is great for when you don’t have an instant massager installed in a computer. It is compatible will most chat services.

30Boxes (Calendar) – I used to hate online calendars, but then I found this one. All you have to type is, “Meeting on Sunday at 8pm” and it knows. Just give it a try.

Buzzword (Word Processing) – Once everyone can sign up for this, it will be the new standard that everyone is going to copy.

Flickr (Images) – I don’t use this that much for my own images, but I do use it to look at my friends. Being able to tag photos is the greatest invention ever.

GMail (Email) – I think everyone knows about this one. If you don’t have a gmail account yet, get one.

NetVibes (Feed Reader) – I just found this site and I am already impressed. All the information I want, on one easy page. There are a lot of sites that do this, but I feel this is the only one that does it right.

The T-Shirt for Bacon Lovers

I have wanted to make a bacon t-shirt for a long time, but I never had the resources to do it. Thankfully I found a site that does. It’s called Meat-O-Matic.com and it specializes in selling meat-related novelty items.

The first thing you notice when you visit the site is that they advertise the Bacon T-Shirt, and it looks amazing. Now I didn’t have to make it, I could just buy it. The price even made me happier, only $16.95!

Bacon T-Shirt

This was my first and last modeling photo shoot. The photo shoot was done at the 24 Hour Creative Marathon by John E. Bodner. It wasn’t planned but just kind of happened by accident. So I guess if you are an aspiring model you need to get one of these. Since the cameras can’t stay away from the bacon goodness.
