Everyone Loves Free Doughnuts
If you can remember from last week I kept plugging the art show that Matt Gondek and I were putting on called, “Doughnuts and Art”. I would just like to say that it was a great success! Even though I was jetlagged I still managed to keep everything running smoothly. There were only a few snags during the night but those were behind the scenes and the guests never noticed.
Everyone told me that they had a great time and I was surprised that many people stayed for the whole event. Which is amazing to me since the event was 8 hours long. I guess the fact that the event was really three types of shows (Art, Bands, and Dance Party) it kept people interested.
The artwork that was shown was amazing. I really can’t even put what I saw into words, you’re just going to have to come to the next show and see it for yourself. If you really can’t wait, you can click here and see what pictures people have uploaded on Flicker of the show.
The music was a great surprise. Just before the show, two of the bands canceled, but I didn’t freak out. I knew finding bands to play the event would not be difficult since there is a waiting list to get on the next show in August. The two last-minute bands that played were out of this world. One was a one-man show called Buddy Nut and the other was a two-man cover band that could almost play every song the crowd requested.
The dance party lasted until 2 am and I had people dancing till the last song was done. Even during the dance party two art pieces were sold. I guess good music and dancing get people in the mood to buy art.
We are planning to do Doughnuts and Art 2.0 in August. If you are an artist or band that would like to be part of the next event, just send me an email.
Thanks to everyone that helped make this a great event, and I can’t wait to do it all over again in August.
