Bacon Novelties at Merch-Bot.com

Do you smell bacon? If you do that’s my new sponsor Merch-Bot.com. They sell everything from Bacon Band-Aids to Einstein Action Figures. Also, their selections of bacon novelty items are amazing and I will be reviewing a few of them in the future.

Merch-Bot.com

If you live in Washington they have a brick and mortar store in downtown Bellingham. You can go to the website and see a live feed of what’s happening in the store. They even have a few interesting videos they made. These guys look like they have a lot of fun and so I think its going to be bacontastic having them as a sponsor.

Making Money in August

If you have been blogging for a few years, you will know that during the summer less people are online. Which is understandable since summer is the time for being outside and going on vacation.

With internet traffic slowing down, I was still able to pull in some revenue. This makes me excited for this winter when traffic picks up again. If my site is doing this good during slow times, just think of what it can do when the traffic more then triples.

I am not going to list how much I made with each revenue source because some of them asked me not keep my earnings under wraps. So if I list some and not others, smart people could do the math and figure out what I made with ones I didn’t list. So I am not going to list them like that anymore.

This month’s money makers are, Talkshoe.com (talkObjectivism.com), Adsense, Banners, Text-Link-Ads, and Freelance Writing (about-pittsburghpa.com). I made a total of $65.03, so my income is steadily rising.

Sadly no one bought me a beer this month so I had to pay for my own. If someone would have, I would have listed them here with at link to their site.

In closing I would like to say “welcome” to all the bacon eaters in Chicago. This blog has been getting a lot of press in that city. If you live there, let me know where I can get a good Bacon Burger. I might be coming to town in a few months.

Shop Indie, Be Happy

Please welcome my newest sponsor, Shana Logic, an independent store, featuring artist made products. I found this store a while ago when I was looking for new desktop backgrounds and found PixelgirlPresents.com. The same girl runs both sites and both are equally amazing.

Guys don’t be turned off when you check out the site, I know it looks a little girly. But there are some really awesome shirts and accessories for guys on the site. Here is the wallet I just ordered.

I liked the idea behind the store, “Shop Indie”. It was the first reason I was attracted to the site. Since corporate made indie products are everywhere, it’s refreshing when you find real thing. Plus, it gives you a good feeling to know you’re supporting an artist living his dream, of living off of his creativity.

Also to all my artist friends, if you would like to try and sell your stuff in the store let me know and I will forward you to Shana.

Sell Your Advertising Direct

Google Adsense is really starting to rip me off. Every month my impressions get higher and higher but my revenue get less. Some days I even got more ad clicks and my revenue is still not where I feel it should be. I feel Google is under selling my ad space, so I decided to take things into my own hands.

After reading a few blogs on blogging, I am finding that a lot of people are trying to sell advertising space directly. This means not using a middle man like Adsense or Text-Link-Ads.

I first read about it on this post at JohnChow.com. The post focuses on the information that should be on a good advertising page. At the end of the article he refers to a smaller site trying to do the same thing, called Sitefever.com. So this got me thinking if they can do it, I can do it. I never liked Adsense anyway.

At the moment I am only offering one type of adverting, and that is a 190×50 banner on the side bar. I am only going to charge $30 per month to start out. I got this price by looking at other blogs and my niche and size, so I know it’s more then fair. There are only going to be 4 spots so you’re going to have to act fast.

If you would like to talk to me about being a sponsor just head over to my advertising page or send me an email. Also if you know someone I should contact about advertising, let me know. Thanks!

Making Money in July

This is my favorite post of the month; the “how much money did I make” post. I never would have imagined I could make money off a personal blog about my life and my love of bacon. Now that I am truly making money online, I love to show it off. ;)

I think as I start making more money, I am going to invest it back into this blog. For example, I am going to hold a monthly contest where the winner will receive a package of bacon (I just need to think if a good contest). I may also buy a video camera and start making mini bacon movies, but that will have to wait tell I make 300 in one month. If you can think of any creative ways to use the money to improve this blog please share them.

I know you’re all dieing to know how much money I made this month, so I will bore you no longer. Before I show you the numbers, I have to disclose something. I am not allowed to mention two networks that I generate money from, so I will list them as “Other Income”. Please do not ask me what the networks are because I really can’t tell you. If you are smart and are an avid read of this blog you may be able to figure out what one of the networks are.

Google AdSense - $14.53
TalkShoe.com - $21.87
Buy Me a Beer - $2.00 (Thank you Angela! – BostonBrat.net)
Other Income - $15.95
———————————
Total = 54.35

If you look at last months post, you will see that I made $15.29 more this month. If I keep this upward trend going maybe I can live the same dream the guy at OneMansGoal.com is trying to achieve.

Making Money in June

Every month, starting with this one, I am going to post my income I make from blogging. The last time I did this was April. As you can see my numbers are really improving. They almost doubled in two months. That is the main reason I want to start doing this every month, to see what kind of trend I have going on here.

Like a said yesterday I have another big idea in the works and I hope it too makes me some money. I am going to add some Adsense to talkObjectivism.com and see what it can do with that. Right now its only money maker is the podcast. I am also redesigning my hosting company’s website (Pagewaiter.com) and I am going to start marketing it again. Next month will probably be to soon to see what the new projects add to my income but August will be the moment of truth.

Talkshoe = $15.07 (talkObjectivism.com)
Buy Me a Drink = $13.50
Adsense = $8.24
Other = $2.25 (Top Secret)
—————————-
Total = 39.06

Thanks to Beth for the coffee and Dug for the case of PBR!
