On last night’s show Sean and I talked with Hilary from Sugardale about their event “The Great Sugardale Bac-On”. It’s a recipe contest were you can win up to 3,000 bucks! If you want to enter just head to their website and submit your original recipe.

After talking about the Bac-On we moved on to the rash of bacon hate being found on Facebook. The source of most of the anti-bacon propaganda is the Facebook page titled, “Bacon-loving Hipsters can Kiss my Vegan Ass”. To help restore balance we had a member of the bacon community create our own page called, “Vegan Hipsters can Kiss my Bacon-loving Ass”. Please become a fan and post vegan recipes that can be improve with bacon, links to vegan blogs so we can make fun of them, and anything else that’s related.

All I ask is that we keep it constructive and stay away from personal attacks on vegans. Yes, they made fun of Aaron Tucker (lover of Bacon Salt) but that doesn’t mean we need to stoop to their level. Let’s show them who really take the moral high road.

Another highlight of the show was when Sean and I ate Hormel’s fully cooked bacon right out of the box. That’s right; we didn’t put it in a microwave or anything. To our surprise it wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be, but we still wouldn’t recommend it. It was to chewy and desperately needed to be re-cooked.

Today on Bacon LIVE Sean and I reviewed the new Hormel Fully Cooked Bacon. As many of you already know, we hate precooked bacon, so we where surprised when we both actually liked it. Now I am not saying it’s the best bacon I ever had, but it is the best precooked bacon I ever had.

It really was thicker and had more flavor then other bacons in its class. Still we both agree we would almost always prefer cooking it ourselves. But it is nice to know we can keep this is our cupboard for some decent back up bacon.

We also recapped Bacon Bash and talked about how we could improve it for next year. We then moved on to drinking beer and how we should remove bacon eating rights to anyone that gets a DUI.

I will be on vacation next week so there will be no Bacon LIVE. You will just have to watch or listen to your favorite past episode. We will be back in full force September 1st.

On today’s show we had a few tech issues. I got a new microphone that I wanted to use on the show but since I didn’t test out my setup first we had a few technical difficulties that we had to over come.

On top of that, we had a storm in the area that knocked out our internet. That means most of the ustream feed was not recored. Luckily we record the audio for the podcast on my computer so all was not lost.

I am sure we will get everything figured out for next week.

Last night Sean and I did a live review of Sugardale’s Hickory Thick Cut Bacon and this time it had the wow factor. The bacon had a sweet and savory taste with just the right amount of hickory smoke. We both thought it had that classic bacon flavor that everyone knows and loves. For the class of bacon its in this stuff rocks!

After reviewing the bacon Sean and I slipped in to some kind of bacon high. We started thinking up crazy ideas like “What if Mr. Baconpants was a superhero”. Once we got on the topic it seemed like the show went by so fast. After we were done recording the show we even started to flesh out the backstory and everything.

If you are a comic artist that would like to help us out please email us. We have the story we just need a Steve Ditko to our Stan Lee. In fact if we could just get Ditko that would be amazing! I could see Mr. Baconpants standing next to Mr. A! Sorry for all the nurd comic book references but I enjoy letting my inter nurd (or nurder nurd) show sometimes.

UPDATE: OMG OMG OMG!!!! It seems that uStream.tv messed up and stopped recording the show about 25 mins into the show. Lucky it got the bacon review BUT it miss the whole Mr. Baconpants superhero talk. I guess that might be a good thing since the only people that know about it now are the awesome people that watched live and Sean and I.

We are going to start recording the show in a better location with a direct LAN line so I hope this never happens again. If its does we will be looking for a new service to host our show on. If you know of other options please let us know.

We thought the bacon was really good but lacked the wow factor that other think bacon have had. That being said, we both agree that this would be the bacon we would keep in our home for all occasions. It has a great flavor, cut, fat to meat ratio, and it’s a great value for the price. I will be writing up a full review after I finish the package.

We also talked about technology and cook gadgets. I wonder why were are not eating food in pill form yet or why we just can push a button on a machine and a cook meal pop out. Instead we have the George Foreman, a food dehydrator thing, and the Slap Chop. If someone could just combine all of those things they would make millions.

Tune in next week when we review Sugardale’s Thick Cut Hickory Bacon live. I have a feeling that this one could have the wow factor we are looking for. Also remember to buy you Bacon Bash tickets soon!

He pretty much said the same thing we said, “It sucks ass.” He even had a few of his family members on the video saying the same thing.

After watching the video Sean and I quickly realized that we hope Aaron makes more videos. He weird but in a good way, seriously we would watch a whole show about him. Just to give you a taste of his genius to open the video he rewrote our theme song to ”Bacon bacon cheese bacon bacon cheese”.

We also talked about hotdogs and bacon which reminded me that I had a big announcement about this year’s Bacon Bash. Sugardale will be sponsoring most of the bacon this year. We are both big fans of Sugardale so this is great news! I am trying to get them to supply us with some of their great hotdogs so we can make Bacon Burger Dogs. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

We also did a surprise review of Bacon Beans, the bacon flavored jelly beans. We thought they tasted kind of like moldy ham. Personally I thought they were not a bad as I imagined they would be. Sean was more offended by them then I was.

Everything was going smoothly until I started to intimidate the storm. At that point lighting struck right outside the window and made my monitors black out. I thought all was lost. Lucky for us lighting is no match for Bacon Live. The show continued as normal with only a few video stream hiccups.

We also did a live review of Kraft’s new Deli Deluxe Bacon Cheddar cheese. Sean and I both thought that the bacon flavor was no were to be found. We could see it in the cheese but couldn’t taste it. I think that it may have more bacon flavor if it was melted in a grill cheese or on a burger. Before I do my full review post I am going to give that a try and let you guys know how it is.

Next week’s show should be a good one. Apple is going to unveil the new iPhone June 7th and since Sean is an Apple hater and I am an Apple lover we should have some good commentary on it. Don’t worry we will just talk about this for ten minutes and then go back to our normal bacon programming.

Sean brought it to my attention that Michelle Obama has an initiative to get us to eat “healthier”. She has a task force to fight childhood obesity and she is leading the charge to get salts and fats regulated.

I think things like this very seriously because it’s my right to eat whatever I want however I want. It’s not the government’s job to tell me what to eat; it’s their job to protect my right to eat what I want.

I am not going to go in a political rant right now, since this is supposed to be just show notes for the podcast. But I will be posting more about this in the coming weeks. I am not going to take this attack on food sitting done (unless I am eating at the time).

On Wednesday the show started off normal but then quickly took a turn when Sean showed me some Vegan Propaganda he pickup when he was traveling last weekend.

I can’t believe the amount of lies and fact manipulation they use to try and get people to take part in their unnatural eating habits. I really think Vegans are no different than other people that have eating disorders. They feel like they don’t have control of their life so they have to strictly control what they eat.

Being a person that enjoys the 1st Amendment I am ok with them having there propaganda. But I do have a strict don’t ask don’t tell policy when it comes to Vegans that enter my personal life. I will not make fun of your eating disorder (to you face) if you don’t ridicule me for eating cute animals (to mine).

It only took two weeks for Sean to finally get the extension for his head phones (which is really nice by the way).

We started off the show talking about Mrs. Dash, which has nothing to do with bacon. In fact I think this was our most bacon free show in a while. We will have to fix that next week. We also talked about Cinco Da Mayo and Sean shared a recipe for refried beans with bacon.

Tune in next week to hear about Sean’s terrible bacon experiences and how it almost made him never eat bacon again, and how Jim Norton came to the rescue.

Luckily both times the problem was headphones, so hopefully next week we have it fixed. The moral of the story is don’t buy headphones at a discount store.

We started off the show talking about a post that Sean wrote about a ban on salt in processed foods. You will be able to read the post tomorrow morning. We then moved on to less depressing things like bacon art and novelties.

We also had a special Robot appearance, not sure where he came from but he may be back next week to help us out with the intro. Who knows?

This cause us to be a little off when we sang the opening intro (Sean couldn’t hear it). We hope to have this problem fix before next week.

On the show we talked about a lot of amazing things. To get the full effect you should just start watching it right now and stop reading this. But just in case you’re lazy, and like to buy pre-made pancake mix, I will go on. We talked about having a twitter war, brown sugar bacon, pig stink island, ghost, Applebees, and butter. Sean also recapped his KFC Double Down experience and said the meal was good but not worth the price.

Be sure to tune in next week when Sean reveals the secret topic that we didn’t get to. He told me what it was at the end of the show and it’s crazy! I don’t even know if I could talk about.

This Wednesday Sean and I recorded the show live from the Harris Grill in front of a live audience. This was the first time we did this and it turned out really well. We were presented with delicious bacon creations created by the HG kitchen. Sean and I even shared with the audience just as promised.

The first two dishes that came out where chocolate covered bacon and bacon brittle. The chocolate covered bacon was the best I have ever had. I don’t know what kind of chocolate they use, but thats what made it so good. Each strip of bacon was covered with a think layer of the stuff. The bacon brittle was met with mixed reviews. Most people thought the flavor was over powered with smoke. Compared to the brittle they made for the Bacon tour last year, this was a better execution. It was crispy and had the right texture. They just need to work on the flavor now.

The last dish to come out was the crowed favorite, bacon wrapped pizza bits. Yes, I am talking about the Totino’s Pizza Bites wrapped in out favorite meat. You know you thought about doing it when you were in college, well the Harris Grill did it. If I could only eat one food these would be it.

It appeared a few days ago on Nightline, Sean and I both missed it. After watching the clip Sean realized that once again the main stream media failed to mention Mr. Baconpants, the best bacon website, in a bacon segment. We don’t know what they have agains us, but we wish we knew.

After ranting about for awhile, I noticed that Sean was acting a little funny. I then remember that he just ate a Burger King value meal. After leaning that fatty foods where addicting I came to the conclusion that he was high on fast food. After explaining to Sean that Bacon LIVE studio was a drug free environment we moved on to other bacon goodness.

Remember next week we will be live at the Harris Grill. If you live in the PIttsburgh area you should come check us out.
