I am not going to get in to all the deals we covered on the show but a sugar tax is a terrible idea. It would pave the way to other taxes on “unhealthy” foods like bacon. I feel that the Mayor should take a good long look at were he is spending money and make some cut backs. I will never move back to the city if they add yet another tax to the people that live, shop, and work there.

We also reviewed the last of the Burger’s Smokehouse bacon and talked about Bacon Jesus. Sean also complained about Pizza Hut ads and people on the left. Next week will be back to our normal non-political bacon fueled rants.

A lot of fellow bacon lovers agree with me. Every time I write something about this I get emails and tweets of support. Sadly, there usually from people that got suckered in by his crappy blog to buy something form his store or fellow bloggers whose content was stolen.

Knowing this I could NEVER support anything Bacon Freak does. I have come to the conclusion that any website that supports Bacon Freak is a Bacon Fake.

I am not going to mention any names in this post but if you go to a bacon blog and see an ad for them email the author and tell them they lost your respect and that they should remove it. We need to make sure the bacon community only supports that best bacon products. Instead of buying bacon from a site like Bacon Freak buy it from companies that support real farmers and sell great products.

Luckily we are not Catholic so we can continue to review bacon during Lent. As for @iscoolerthanyou, he will not be eating bacon anytime soon, he give it up for Lent. Sean and I couldn’t believe it. This is the same guy that won the Wendy’s bacon twitter contest! I don’t think I could make it if I give up bacon.

Bellow is a video made by what looks like some Burgh Bros showing what the city looked like after the first big hit of snow. The show was canceled because we got another 6 inches on top of the mess we already had.

I guess we are lucky compared to what our friends closer to DC got. Who knows when they will be dig out. Let’s how its after Tax season.

• Mr. Baconpants and Sean both discussed their hate of birthday cake. That’s why I always demand chocolate zuccini cake with chocolate butter-cream-cheese frosting for my birthdays. It’s good.

• Today’s show started with an interview with John Li from Kraft about the new Oscar Mayer Super-Thick Applewood Smoked Bacon!
• Bacon tips from John:
  With thick bacon, cook it on medium-low in a pan or just lay it out in the oven and cook at 350 for 25 minutes or so for perfect bacon. For pan-cooking bacon, the most important thing is to not crowd the bacon! Freezing a few slices of raw bacon for easy access is a great idea, but don’t freeze cooked bacon, it won’t taste right later.
• Hopefully John will be back for future episodes with more cool bacon info!
• At 24 minutes in, we finally get to see the first taste test of the Oscar Mayer Super-Thick-Cut Applewood Smoked Bacon! The smell and taste were most excellent. Cooking it low and slow makes it crunchy on the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside! This could be the best store-bought bacon ever. There’s lots of better bacon, but truly great bacon is hard to come by unless you have $50 or more to pay for several pounds and some major shipping costs.
• Mr. Baconpants discussed his upcoming trip this weekend to the Dogfish Head Brewery for a 5-course pork dinner with special beers for each course.
• Today’s first video segment was a kid way too excited about getting a Nintendo Wii.
• The second video of the day was Chatham County Line playing Bacon in the Skillet. It was a pretty good music video, but not as cool as the kid getting a Wii.
• At the end of the show Sean brought out some Christmas bacon poetry. Just go watch it. Now!

• Our hosts tried to find a retro bacon commercial, but had some serious technical difficulties. Youtube has let us down once again.
• Our hosts brought up the Mountain Products Smokehouse many flavors of wonderful bacon, but it’s so hard to get it when you need it, so be sure to search your stores for new bacon. If they don’t have what you want, fill out a customer product request! Stores actually take these little slips of paper seriously most of the time.
• Sean brought up cooking a slab of bacon. Just steam the whole thing or roast it in the oven! You could marinate it in all kinds of things and invent the next great bacon recipe!

• Mr. Baconpants’ announcement that he’ll be selling @SweetSoaps Maple Bacon soap that
  looks like bacon but smells like delicious maple.
• He also announced SweetSoap’s maple-bacon candle with a wooden wick so it sizzles as it burns! It will be for sale soon in the MBp Merch Store.
• Jason and Sean both made it public that they are bacoholics.
• Sean, the smart one here, brought up some great uses for bacon this Thanksgiving. He said it’d be great to toss some bacon bits in mashed potatoes and corn, but I must disagree, use Bacon Salt.
• Sean also ran thorugh a quick Thanksgiving turkey recipe. You’ll need to watch the show to get the whole thing.
• Mr. Baconpants and Sean brought up the Turducken which would be made 500X more awesome if it was wrapped in bacon. Personally, I think they should stuff a Bacon Explosion inside a turkey, and then wrap it in bacon! I can’t think of a catchy name for it though.
• At 30 minutes in, you can hear the quick 30-second version of the Baconator Combo song that they shortened for a Wendy’s 30-second video contest on Youtube.
• Mr. Baconpants called them up on Skype and interviewed them about their awesome bacon songs and the possibility of doing more bacon songs in the future!
• During the taped interview, Mr. Baconpants ran downstairs and grabbed the J&D’s Bacon Ranch Dip and a bag of Ruffles which are the best chip for dipping into a sour-cream based dip! You can buy Bacon Ranch Dip from the BaconSalt web site for $2.99 a pack!
• Sean did a great segment on non-bacon bacon related news, always a winner, but you’ll need to watch the show for the details of his report! Sodomy was involved.
• At the end of the show, Mr. Baconpants brought up the whistle tip to make cars extremely loud. Guys, this has been a problem for many years in California! They say it is so loud it drowns out emergency vehicle sirens and it drives the people crazy. You can get the DIY exhaust kit at Amazon. What’s up with that?

Pre internet fail, Sean and I tried Bacon Potato Chips and Mountain Products Smokehouse Garlic Bacon. The bacon chips had a smoky BBQ flavor and a nice homemade crunch. If you are a bacon and chip lover you can’t go wrong with them. The Garlic bacon had a nice flavor which reminded us of sausage. We felt that this would be a great bacon to cook with but not good breakfast bacon. You wouldn’t want garlic breath to start your day.
