Do you remember that event we had at the Harris Grill in September? Well this is the recap we did on Bacon Live about that event. We talked about all things Bacon Bash and more.

Bacon LIVE: J&D’s Bacon Croutons Review

Last night Sean and I reviewed J&D’s Bacon Croutons. I would frist like to say these things are amazing and I am really glad they sent them to us. If you see this in a store they are a must buy. Today I have eaten for a snack all day. In fact I am eating as I write this post.

We are going to be having contest to give away a few extra bags they sent us. I really want to keep them for myself but I promised I would share. We plan to give a few away at Bacon Bash.

Bacon LIVE: Sean Took my Kazoo Away

Last week I tried to teach Sean how to talk Kazoo. He wasn’t impressed and decided that I should retire the Kazoo. This will be the last Kazoo intro.

Long time supporter of the show Kurt asked about the shirt sizes for the Bacon Bash Tees. This got Sean on an angry fat man rant about shirt companies ripping people off. I am not going to get it to it now so you will just have to watch or listen for yourself.

Sean also told us about this Downtown Pittsburgh adventures at the Double Tree. Long story short, they have great cookies.

One the show recorded on August 17, 2011 Sean and I talked about having interns play the Kazoos for the shows intro. You will be surprised if you knew how many people can’t play a Kazoo.

Sean and I also talked about how we should start a reality TV show all about cooking bacon. Since that is what most cooking contest shows are anymore. Not that we are complaining about that.

A few other highlights are Obama eat and enjoys bacon, baby monkeys can ride pigs backwards, and you can only get good BBQ from a mom and pop shop.

Bacon LIVE: A Bar Called Two Bucks

Last week’s show was a random show where we talked about anything and everything. Most of it was not bacon related. I blame Aaron Tucker for not being in the Chat room.

One of the more interesting conversations had been Sean’s idea for a bar called “Two Bucks”. Everything in the bar would be two bucks, no more or no less. He felt this is a great idea but I warned him about liability issues with people getting DUIs. When you can get a shot for two bucks why would you ever get a beer.

Next week should be a good show and back on topic. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Bacon LIVE: Review of Squittle, Bacon Brittle.

Two weeks ago on Bacon LIVE Sean and I got a chance to review Squittle from Sugar Daddy Desserts. If you don’t know Squittle is the name they gave to maple, pecan, and bacon brittle. I have had bacon brittle but this was the first time I seen it made with maple and pecans.

We both thought it was amazing and you could really taste the bacon. The maple and pecans really added a lot of the brittle and I felt they enhanced the smokiness. The box the Squittle came in was cool too. Watch the show or head on over to their site to check it out.

Bacon LIVE: Pittsburgh Chevy Burger and Shake Crawl 2011

Back in the day if one wanted a nice burger and shake they would have to walk 10 miles in the snow up hill both ways just for a little bite to eat. Then out of a desire to never have to walk again mankind invented the car and we’ve been driving ever since.

The good people at Chevrolet must have realized how much I enjoy burgers and hate walking because they invited me and Jason on the 2011 Pittsburgh Chevy Burger and Shake Crawl!!

The deal was we would be whisked away in some of the new Chevy vehicles to some of the best burger and shake joints in the burgh. At first I was a little hesitant to sign up because I know very little about cars and didn’t want to come off as a fool but I do know a lot about the American past time of eating.

I decided to use this as an opportunity to learn a little about cars and fill my belly at the same time, so I signed up. With an open mind and open mouth we headed out.

The plan was to meet up with Chevy, check out the cars, then hit up the restaurants BRGR and Sharp Edge Bistro and finish the day at the Milk Shake Factory. We were so pumped we couldn’t wait around for the 11:30am start time so we went almost 40 minutes early.

When we got there the Chevy team was wiping down the cars to make them all shiny and they were doing such a good job I was half tempted to ask them to do my car next. This was the first glimpse I’ve had at the vehicles. Lined up in all their shiny glory was the Cruze, Tahoe, Equinox, Camaro, and Volt.

We had a quick overview of the cars and they gave us some impressive stats on gas mileage, horse power, and leg room. Now I have to make a little confession, before doing this I wasn’t really a GM supporter but after it was all said and done I was impressed with all the little extras Chevy puts in their cars and the days after the event I even found myself defending Chevy against naysayers.

All the bloggers involved seemed to have a really good time. The afternoon was filled with good food and good people. I for one had a blast and over the next week I’m going to take a more in-depth look at the cars, burgers, and shakes. Some of the things we tried were amazing and blew me away and others were kind of disappointing. So check back through out the week for full coverage.

Bacon LIVE: The Bacon Hotline is Back!

Last week I had to do the show solo again since Sean was on vacation. Luckily, I finally got the Bacon Hotline back up so he was able to call in and give us updates from the road. We also had a few fans from New Jersey call in.

Everything with the phone line seemed to work ok. The only problem that came up was after the show was over. I noticed that there was a slight delay that caused me to sound like I was talking over the callers. I will have to remember to wait a second after someone is talking before I start to talk. I am also looking in to why this is happening in the first place.

Now that we have a flashy into and a phone line. What else do you think we can add to the show to make it better? Should eve have more signature segments, recipes, reviews, or guests? Let us know. Thanks!

Bacon LIVE: Last Weeks Show

Talk about dropping the ball. I am just now getting to posting last weeks show notes up.

Last week was a great show and it was the first time we used both a fan created intro and outro. I feel the show has just entered a new level of professionalism. If we keep it up soon you will find up on basic cable.
