Bacon Enthusiasts Open an Online Bacn Store

A few months ago I noticed a new bacon site called Bacn.com. At first I was like, “Great here comes another opportunistic jerk trying to cash in on bacon”. Then after keeping an eye on the site and snooping around I realized just how wrong I was about that. It seems “Bacn” is really just a group of bacon lovers that want to sell the best bacon to the masses.

Here is what founder Scott Kveton has to say about his site:

Bac’n was started by Jason, Michael and myself in early 2009 and is dedicated to delivering “bacon passion” wrapped in white butcher paper and delivered right to your door. We don’t sell every kind of bacon in the world. We sell what we think is the best bacon we can find. We offer reviews and ratings from our customers and we do our best to tell you everything we can about the bacon we sell on our site.

If you check out their site you will find that is just what they do. It’s a snap to navigate to what you want and to place an order. Right now there are not many costumer reviews on the site but that will change as more people place orders.

Also, further proving they are real members of the Bacon Nation, they support other bacon lovers. Browsing thought their store you will notice products from BaconShirts.com and others like them. The selection of bacon is also impressive. They even have Beeler’s bacon, which some people call the best bacon money can buy. These guys really do love and know their bacon.

I only have a one suggestion for this site:

  • Give people more than one option to checkout. I am not a fan of Google checkout and would rather to use Paypal.

This is a new site and from the time I started watching it until now, it has really grown a lot. So I am sure they will fix that in time.

    Thanks for the post Jason! Yes, we’re looking at adding other forms of checkout in addition to Google Checkout. We started with Google Checkout because of its ease of implementation and our goal to start the site as quickly as possible with off-the-shelf products. Great feedback and glad you like the site.

    We’ve got more suppliers coming on-line soon and we have a few other really fun things coming up … thanks again.

    Oh yeah … we’ve kicked around doing our own checkout … would that be more interesting/good? Or is it that you trust PayPal more?

    Scott,

    Having your own payment gateway would be ideal but it does add a lot of cost. Most banks charge a $25 monthly fee plus a percentage on each sale to process credit cards. If your sale volume justifies it then call your bank and get that setup, still keeping google checkout and Paypal. People like choices.

    As a kid the best bacon I ever had was jaw bacon from the jaw of the pig.You could slice it 1/4″ thick and it still had a lite delicate crunch.Not a hard tooth breaking crunch. Has anyone ever hear of jaw bacon

    Hell ya !! doesn’t get better then jaw bacon. There is a meat market in weimer
    texas called CASPERS . They are the only place I know of you can buy it from. I am from Weimer so I tell you this because I know. They make it two flavors, smoked
    and honey-smoked. I like the regular smoked, I do not believe meat should be sweet.
    Anyone who has not had jaw bacon you simply have not had the BEST.
