The PR guy for Wendy’s emailed me a few days ago about their new burger, the Spicy Baconator. He also told me that he was sorry I wasn’t a bigger fan of the Original. He thinks that this one may tickle my fancy more. I will not have time to try one this week, but once I do I will let you know about it.
If you’re wondering what this new extreme bacon burger is all about here is the run down. Just like the first Baconator this one has six strips of (hopefully crispy) bacon on top of two hamburgers. What make it spicy is the addition of two slices of Pepper Jack cheese, chipotle ranch sauce, and jalapenos. Wow that’s a lot of hot.
It is available now through mid-April. If you have tried one of these spicy monsters let me know what you think about it. Since the fine people at Wendy’s read this blog, I am sure they will hear your screams of joy (or pain).
Here is the video I took of the intense bacon eating contest at the first annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. If for some unknown reason you don’t know what that is, I advise you to check out this recap right away.
This was the best part of the event. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. The smell of bacon, the roaring crowds (ohhhh bacon!), and the steady (some not so steady) eyes of the bacon Gladiators waiting to devour 3lbs of (cooked) bacon. It was a sight to see, I can’t wait till next year.
The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Des Moines, Iowa was a bacontastic event. There was so much bacon goodness I don’t know if I can even give it justice with only my words. That’s why during this week I will be posting a lot of videos and photos of the event.
I would like to mention how impressed I am with Iowa’s capitol city, it’s clean, new, and the traffic is very mild. The people that live there are so friendly and they left a lasting impression on me. Des Moines is a city with a small town atmosphere. I felt safe and comfortable as soon as I got into town.
I am also bringing my Flip Video Camera so I will try to post of some raw (unedited) videos to YouTube if I get the chance. On Tuesday I will post up a mini documentary of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival.
Don’t worry if you miss any of the live updates I will compiling all the information and photos into one easy to follow post on Monday. If you want to contact me on the road just comment on this post or send me an email.
Every once in a while I find a game that sucks the life right out of me. Well, a few weeks ago one of those games was Desktop Tower Defense 1.5. It’s a live action puzzle game where it’s your job to figure out how to kill the “creeps†before they get to the other side of the screen. To do that you buy and/or upgrade towers to shoot and kill the creeps. I know I am not doing this game justice, so you’re just going to have to play it to really understand what I’m talking about.
A word of warning, don’t give up too fast. This is an easy game to learn but a hard game to master. That’s why it can really suck the life out of you. The first time I played this, I started it a 11pm and didn’t stop playing till 3am. The last time something like that happened it was when I got Sim City 2000 many years ago.
Let me know what you think about this game and how much time you wasted playing it. I would also like to know what games you waste time playing on any platform.
I am not a big fan of chain restaurants but every once in a while one does something that perks my interest. This time it’s Chili’s with their Smokehouse Bacon Big Mouth Burgers. The mammoth burger features extra-thick applewood-smoked or sugar and chilie-rubbed bacon. Click here to watch Chili’s commercial for them.
Chili’s offers the new burgers in three different flavors: Jalapeno – Extra thick-cut applewood smoked bacon topped with layers of smoked cheddar cheese, crunchy tortilla strips, jalapeños and mayo. Served with jalapeño-ranch dressing on the side.
Southern – Extra thick-cut brown sugar & chile-rubbed bacon topped with smoked cheddar cheese, crispy onion strings and mayo. Served with ancho-chile BBQ sauce on the side.
Triple-the-Cheese РExtra thick-cut jalape̱o applewood smoked bacon triple-layered with smoked cheddar, Swiss and provolone cheeses, sauteed onions and jalape̱o-ranch dressing. Served with jalape̱o-ranch dressing on the side.
I am curious to see what the extra-thick bacon is like. I like my bacon crispy and I can imagine that this thick cut bacon is going to be chewy. I hope this new burger isn’t a letdown like the Wendy’s Baconator was which turned out to be a chewy greasy mess.
Once I try one of these I will give a full review of it. In the meantime if you have had one of these please share your experience by adding a comment.
Will this be the next hit song to come out of an iPod commercial? I don’t think so, but this song is still amusing. The reason I posted this video was because I was amazed how far this video traveled to get to my blog.
Here is what I am talking about:
The video was uploaded on YouTube. Then a blog (neuerdings) written in a language I can’t read, posted an article about the video. Soon after that a blog called Swiss Miss posted the video with a link to the GarageBand file. The chain continues when a lazy blogger at code77 just posts the video with no explanation. Thank god the bloggers at Cruchgear know whats up and post the video with some text along with it. After that I read the post in my feed reader, which bring us to the end of this video’s adventure to the land of bacon.
I may be the only one that finds this interesting, but I wanted to share. I think it’s amazing how fast and far content can travel once it goes viral on the internet.
