Art too bad to be ignored

Have you ever seen artwork at Goodwill or a yard sale and thought, “Wow that’s so bad it’s good”? Well the fine folks in Dedham, Massachusetts have, and they started a whole Museum dedicated to it called the Museum of Bad Art.
The museum was founded in 1994 and is located in the basement of the Dedham Community Theatre. Their mission is to bring the worst of all art to the widest of audiences. They have done this with their website, where they feature a lot of their 400 piece collection.
The best part about the museum is each piece has a description just like a real fine art museum. Not only do some of the pieces make you chuckle, but when you read what goes with it you will lose it. Even though this is “bad art” you can’t help liking it. I would even go as far to say that some of this is better than stuff I saw at “good art” museums.
Think Again

Acquired by Scott Wilson from trashThis disturbing work “makes an offer you can’t refuse”. The chilling, matter-of-fact manner in which the subject presents the severed head to us is a poignant reminder of just how numb we have become. The understated violence implicit in the scene speaks volumes on our own desensitization, our society’s reflexive use of force, and the artist’s inability to deal with the hindquarters of the animal. – from MOBA website
Look through the collection and let me know what your favorites are. If you are a maker of bad art don’t hide it away, show it to the world.
