Bacon Festival Tickets SOLD OUT
Never under estimate the power of bacon. All 1,500 Tickets for the 4th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival sold in 4 minutes!
What an amazing accomplishment for the Bacon Board! I wanted to post this Friday but as soon as I heard the news I cracked open a bottle of bacon vodka (not really but I needed a good excuse).
Full Press Release:
January 21, 2011 (Des Moines, IA) – Tickets to the 4th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival sponsored by Beggin’ Strips®, Fields of Bacon…If You Fry It, They Will Come are officially sold out. 1,500 tickets for the February 26th event were sold in 4 minutes in the online only sale. The Iowa Bacon Board was overjoyed at the response and mindful of those bacon lovers who weren’t able to purchase tickets in time. When asked why limit the availability of tickets, Brooks Reynolds, Iowa Bacon Board Chair, responded “Over the past 4 years the Iowa Bacon Board has increased the event’s size by a factor of 10, and we’re committed to growing the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival into the future. At the same time, we’re determined to maintain an environment where bacon enthusiasts can truly explore and express their love for bacon in a fun, loving and supportive atmosphere. To accomplish this, we must grow the event at a manageable pace.”
For those who were unable to secure tickets to this year’s event, there are a variety of events taking place during Bacon Week, the week leading up to the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. And, despite the high price of pork bellies, bacon purveyors have promised to scrape up over 200 additional pounds of salty goodness for Bacon Week. This bacon will be fried at three separate venues where 6 additional tickets will be distributed to winners of a variety of bacon competitions. For those out-of-state, Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival and its sponsors will be offering 10 to 20 additional tickets via bacon-themed contests on Facebook and Twitter.
Details about Bacon Week will be released over the next few weeks. For updates, please “like” Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival via Facebook, subscribe to the email list on the web at www.blueribbonbaconfestival.com, or follow @BRBaconFest on Twitter.
